Airium® is Holcim's proprietary mineral insulation range that can be used from floor leveling and insulation to the filling of concrete blocks to roof terraces and attics. It can also be used to replace heavier alternatives in filling and geotechnical applications. It is a Solar Impulse labeled technology.

Airium® is a top-tier mineral insulating foam technology with infinite possibilities:

The foam density is adjustable, which determines the level of insulation and resistance. A low density Airium® is suitable for non-walkable applications such as blocks and attics, while a mid density foam is good for walkable floors or roofs, fulfilling the filling and leveling jobs, while at the same time providing insulation and reducing the overall weight per square meter. In Mexico, for example, an Airium®-based insulated flat roof is three to eight times lighter than alternative systems.

Depending on the desired density, different compromises can be achieved between insulation performance and structural resistance as is shown in the graphs:

Airium® provides enhanced summer comfort thanks to its great thermal phase shift property,  which means that heat takes longer to enter the building and ensures comfortable, cool indoor temperatures for residents without the use of energy-intensive air conditioners. In winter, the effect is reversed and it takes heat longer to leave the building, reducing the need for extra heating.

Airium® is mineral, provides best-in-class fire resistance and does not emit any harmful volatile compound emissions. It is also a long-lasting insulation solution with no loss of performance compared to other insulation materials.

It is easy to use: applicators can capture the air bubbles directly on site without the need to transport things like polystyrene sheets or balls, which means there’s no need for storage or complex site logistics and waste is drastically reduced. An added benefit is the speed with which the work gets done, giving everyone some of their valuable time back.

HOW AND WHERE CAN I USE AIRIUM®?

In a typical house, Airium® has various applications giving the possibility of a complete insulation envelope for the entire house: floors, roofs, walls and precast, and lightweight.
